One of the files in the Navigate QTI Package is the IMSMANIFEST.XML file. This article details various sections of this IMS manifest file.
The top-level <metadata> section contains general information about the manifest file and indicates that the QTI package was generated through ItemLogic by Certica Solutions.
The <resources> section references all resources included in the package:
- other related files
Each of these resources is captured in a <resource> section.
Each item in the exported assessment is identified in a <resource> section with a line such as:
Each item may have metadata associated with it in a <metadata> section.
Within each item's <resource> section, item metadata is captured.
Each piece of metadata and its value are combined in a <imsd:taxonPath> section such as:
In the example above, the metadata "Max Points" (capturing the maximum number of points allowed for the item) is set to a value of 1.00.
Additional item metadata are custom "tags" in ItemLogic and have that preface. For example:
The custom metadata tag "p-value" is set to 0.37.
Items aligned to standards have a <ABStandardGUID> section where the AB (Academic Standards) GUIDs of all the standards are listed:
Partners who are licensed for AB may use the AB Standards GUID information.
The file identifies each standard with additional information below in the <curriculumStandardsMetadataSet> section. For example:
Subsections provide additional details, which include:
- <authority>(issuing authority)
- <label> (previous standards abbreviation exported from ItemLogic QTI 2.1)
- <enhanced> (standards abbreviation recommended by Academic Benchmarks)
- <text> (standard description)
- <imscsmd:GUID> (Internal ItemLogic GUID)
The standards metadata may be used to match the standard to data stored in a source system.
Files Related to the Item
If an item has related images, audio, video, or CSS files, they are listed in <file> sections within the item's <resource> section. The file location within the folders of the QTI packet are identified. Related passages(contexts) and stylesheets are called out in the <dependency> section. For example:
In the example above:
- The item uses PNG files located in the "images" folder in subfolders named by Resource ID.
- The item has a related passage whose ItemLogic Resource ID is 505150.
- The item makes use of two CSS files.
All passages used by any of the items in the exported assessment are each identified in a <resource> section. For example:
Within each items <resource> section, item metadata is captured.
The label of the metadata and it's value are combined in the <imsd:taxonPath> section such as:
In the example above, the metadata "Lexile" is set to 940.
Audio and Video Files
All passages used by any of the items in the QTI export are each identified in a <resource> section. For example:
